July 31, 2025 - Throwback Thursday - The X-Men vs. The Avengers

Hey there, Adventurers! I hope your week is going well. It's Thursday, otherwise known by it's less known name Friday's Eve!

For this episode of #ThrowbackThursday, I wanted to share one of my favorite stories from when I was a kid, and it's the first time the X-Men vs. the Avengers!

Let's take a look!

The story starts with parts of Magneto's former space base Asteriod M falling out of orbit and crashing into different parts of the world. Magneto, who is trying to be a good guy, sets out with the X-Men to try and recover parts of his technology.

At the same time the Avengers are looking to prevent Magneto from regaining some of his former technology and tools, and the Soviet Union's Winter Guard is also out for Magneto for war-crimes he committed including the sinking of an entire Soviet Union submarine and all the people on board.

Once all the players are in place, it's a mad dash to get Magneto before he gets his weapons, before the Winter Guard captures him, or someone kills him.

The main story plays out in X-Men vs Avengers #1-#4, and you can flip over to Uncanny X-Men #200 for the fallout from what happens at the end of the limited series.

The series also featured art from Marc Silvestri who would go on to the be regular Uncanny X-Men pencilier before Jim Lee took over the title.
