June 20, 2025 - Flashback Friday - Incredible Hulk #426

Hello there,

Happy Friday! Let's do a #FlashbackFriday and take a look at Incredible Hulk #425 from Marvel.

In previous issues, Doc Sampson had managed to incorporate the different personalities of Bruce Banner and the Hulk into one composite personality. Basically, in the mind-scape, Bruce Banner, Joe Fixit Hulk, and the Savage Hulk merged together and brought forth the "Professor" version of the Hulk who was both smart and strong. It made for a pretty interesting dynamic between the Hulk and other characters in the Marvel Universe who didn't quite trust this version of the Hulk.

For as long as I can remember the main statement about the Hulk was, "the angrier Hulk gets, the strong Hulk gets."

In #425 and #426 this dynamic gets flipped, and it turns out the angrier "Professor" Hulk gets, the weaker he gets. In fact, he got so angry that he reverted to Bruce Banner, who, in the issues, speaks like the Savage Hulk.
