June 6, 2025 - Flashback Friday - JLA: The Nail
Share
Hello there! Happy Fri-YAY!
I hope your Friday is going well. It's time for a #FlashbackFriday. Let's take a look at DC Comics Elseworld story, "JLA: The Nail."
DC's version of "What if?" was called Elseworlds, and for a long time DC published a bunch of great stories that took their familiar characters and placed them in different contexts. Superman landing in Russia was explored in "Red Son." Batman stalked the streets of Victorina London in "Gotham by Gaslight." There were a bunch of other stories.
One of my favorites was JLA: The Nail. It was written and drawn by Alan Davis, so you know it's going to be good. Anything with Alan Davis' name on it, is a pretty safe bet.
In JLA: The Nail, a nail causes the Kent's to have a flat tire while they were driving home. Because they had to stop and fix the flat, they missed Superman's space ship landing and weren't there to take him in. One of the central mysteries of "The Nail" is if the Kent's didn't raise Kal-El then who did? And did they raise him to be good or evil? You won't know till the end of the story.
That's it for today's #FlashbackFriday. If "JLA: The Nail" sounds interesting, come on down and check out the story.
