May 9, 2025 - Flashback Friday - Rom the Space Knight

Hello there! It's time for a #FlashbackFriday, and this week I wanted to take a look at Rom from Marvel.

Rom was an action figure that came out in the late 1970s when everything was #StarWars #SciFiAdventure. Marvel was able to license Rom and some other properties like Micronauts, Transformers, and G.I. Joe.

Rom was incorporated in the main MCU as well as his enemies, a race of shape-shifters called Dire Wraiths. The series followed Rom as he tried to rid Earth of the Dire Wraiths and conclude his mission. For only when his mission was complete, could Rom shed his Space Knight armor and live a life of peace.

Interestingly enough, Marvel would eventually lose the rights to Rom, but somehow maintained the rights to Space Knights and other things from the Rom comics. This would come into play many years later when Venom/Flash Thompson become Venom: Space Knight and join the Guardians of the Galaxy.
